Sean Deveney of Sporting News reported that the Rockets are currently shopping guard Patrick Beverley ahead of the NBA Draft on Thursday. Beverley averaged 9.5 PPG, 5.9 RPG and 4.2 APG last season.

These rumors should not be too surprising. The Rockets’ pursuit of Chris Paul when free agency arrives is well documented. Beverley actually spoke out on the rumors earlier this week. While he would like to stay in Houston, he understands the NBA is a business first.
“It’s some speculation I might be going to another team..There are a lot of teams that want my talent. That’s a special feeling”
If the Rockets are confident in landing Paul, they are going to have to cut ties with Beverley. It is also a possibility he could be involved in a trade if the Rockets are looking to acquire Paul George.
The majority of Rockets fans would be sad to see him go. He has been with the Rockets since 2012 and has been a big part of their success. Beverley is the yard-dog on the team and does all of the dirty work. His passion and competitiveness provides a lot of energy to the team. There has been improvement in his game every season and he has been able to work well as the backcourt partner alongside James Harden.
Beverley is currently under contract until 2019 and is set to make over $5 million in the upcoming season. This is an interesting time for the Rockets, and it will be fascinating to see what happens with one of the fans’ beloved players in Beverley.
